Having a furnace in your Castle Rock Colorado homes will keep you warm and comfortable during those long cold winters. In fact, furnaces can even help you save money through its energy saving properties. One of the most common furnaces being used is the forced-air natural gas, which distributes the air throughout the house via a system of ducts. Some furnaces use propane such as the liquefied petroleum gas, oil, or the conventional coal and fire wood. Other furnaces run through electricity but can cost you even more.

To have any of these would be wonderful for your house especially if you are living on areas with cold climates. The question however is that, among the furnaces on this long list of furnace models, what are the most efficient? Which one of these is really comfortable and worth the penny you are going to spend? To determine which among these models has the highest efficiency rate, you first have to know what each of the models do to heat your house up.

Furnaces using combustible gases always have to be vented to the exterior part of the house. It is very important since these gases used for the furnace could contain carbon monoxide, which is very dangerous for the human body. A high efficiency furnace can be vented out from a plastic pipe since only a small amount of heat is dispersed through the gases, versus the conventional type of ventilation via the chimney.

The furnace efficiency is measured through its Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE). It is measured through the furnace’s ability to convert the fuel it uses to the heat it produces for the house. In today’s standard, the minimum annual fuel utilization efficiency is 78 percent. Which means, that at least 78 percent of the heat produced is used to heat up the house while the remaining 22 percent is lost through the exhaust vent. Anything at least 90 percent AFUE is already considered as a high efficiency furnace. So far the highest AFUE produced by a furnace ever recorded is 98 percent.

Every furnace works the same way as the fuel is burned, the heat produced passes through an exchanger and the blower passes the air from the house to the heat exchanger and back, producing more heat.

To garner a very high efficiency furnace, you must keep in mind that the furnace should not get its fuel of combustion air on the interior of the house if you are using a gas furnace. From the exterior of the house, have the gas piped to the interior of the house. Otherwise, you are removing the indoor air every time the furnace operates, making a negative indoor pressure from the inside of the house.

A high efficiency furnace is also called a condensing furnace. Since water is condensed on the gas as most of the heat produced is exhausted out. A high efficiency furnace has a 2 stage burner and a speed blower, which will produce the comfortable heat you are looking for.

Energy efficient home has been a buzz word in the Erie Colorado and Evergreen CO real estate markets. One of the ways that you can make your home more energy efficient is by installing an energy efficient furnace. This not only adds value to your home but also helps cut down the running expenses.
